“The following are just some of the ways we utilize the Legacy MediKin™ teaching aides: NICU - We use the MediKin to demonstrate G-tube placement and care. The parents practice on the MediKin™ while watching a G-tube video that shows them how to care for their child's new G-tube. Hematology-Oncology - The MediKin™ bone with the different cells is a great resource; it allows us to explain how blood cells are produced and how chemotherapy destroys the cells, and then how new, healthy ones are produced. Cardiac - We use the MediKin and cardiac adapter to show the scar from open heart surgery. It also shows the chest tubes and where the incision would be made for a pacemaker or defibrillator. It helps patients tremendously to see what the scar will look like and where the tubes will be placed. Orientation - We demonstrate medical preparation for different procedures with the Legacy MediKin and accessories. The different expression masks are used to show patients when they will be awake and when they will be asleep during various procedures.
